| | | | Goddard Middle School is the second largest of the four middle schools in the Littleton Public School District, serves nearly 750 students and includes a staff of eighty. Many of our staff members are State Teachers of the Year and have been selected to be included in Who's Who in Among America's Teachers. Our goals are to prepare students for an ever-changing world, to support the development of confident and caring young people and to model life-long learning. The school is composed of three neighborhoods with teams of Core teachers. Core and elective teachers integrate learning within the neighborhood during the student's three years at Goddard Middle School. Students have numerous opportunities for meaningful learning experiences, to develop self-respect and responsibility, to think critically, and to be assessed in multiple ways. | | | | | |

| | | | | The Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) is designed to provide a picture of how students in the state of Colorado are progressing toward meeting academic standards, and how schools are doing to ensure learning success of students. Goddard begins the CSAP testing on March 8, 2010.
6th grade testing schedule 7th grade testing schedule 8th grade testing schedule CSAP scores become part of a student’s permanent record, and at Goddard, scores are considered in placement decisions for ability-grouped classes. It is extremely important that all our students are in attendance each day during the testing week. Please make every effort to arrange your family schedule to minimize absences during testing. All testing will be finished by noon each day. It is important that students arrive on time and well rested. Eating a healthy breakfast is also important. Make-up tests will be administered March 15th through March 19th. We are required by the state to make sure each section of the test is completed. We will do our best to complete the make-ups with minimal impact on instructional time. | | | | | |

 | | | Welcome to Goddard Middle School | |
| | | Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians: Welcome to the Goddard website. I encourage you to a few minutes to explore our site and familiarize yourself with all the information available. I also hope you will get of sense of what makes Goddard a great place for students to learn and grow. The 2009-2010 school year will be a mix of old and new. I’m delighted to be the new principal of Goddard. While I will be taking on a new position, I’m not new to Goddard. This year marks my fifteenth year in Littleton Public Schools. I began my LPS career as a sixth grade math and science teacher at Goddard. Six years in the classroom were followed by five years as an assistant principal at GMS. For the past three years I have been principal of Wilder, an LPS elementary school that feeds into Goddard. Returning to Goddard is a welcome home with the promise and energy of new and returning students, families, and staff. In the old, but very important category, are the priorities established by Dr. Oaks and worked on diligently by the Goddard staff and community: · To promote academic rigor and continuous growth in student achievement; · To support excellence in special instructional programs, including English as a Second · Language, Gifted and Talented Education, Special Education, Reading, and Technology; · To improve communications with parents and our community; · To improve the appearance and physical condition of our school building and campus; · To continue to provide a safe school environment. These goals provide the foundation for a first-rate school and will keep Goddard moving in a positive direction. In the new category: · All fifth, sixth, and ninth grade language classrooms throughout the district will have Eee computers. These student laptops will help bring 21st Century Learning to our classrooms. · The Public Education Business Coalition will provide staff develop throughout the 2009-2010 school year to support our writing focus of “Using Evidence to Support Ideas.” · All teachers will focus on vocabulary instruction. We are most appreciative of district support for these initiatives. In the continuing category: · First and foremost is our appreciation of the strong home and school connection. Once again we will partner with PTO to raise funds for student technology and other student needs. Next time you are in the building, take a look at the new climbing wall made possible by PTO and your generosity. · The “Positive Behavior Support” program will continue to guide our efforts to promote positive, responsible and respectful student behavior and build a welcoming school climate. Yes, we are PR2 and proud of it! · Our teachers will continue to work together in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instruction and increase student achievement. Thank you for supporting the late-start schedule to support our PLC work. Many of this year’s late-starts will be used for staff development in writing. Our partnership with the Public Education Business Coalition is the perfect match for our focus on writing. In the old and new category: I look forward to catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones. Kathleen Ambron

 | | | W.I.N. Program | |
| | | We are pleased to let you know that the eighth grade Core teachers are piloting a program called “WIN.” WIN stands for Work in Now. WIN provides an opportunity for your child to finish assignments that were not complete when due. WIN is only assigned by a teacher. It is not an after-school homework program or study club. How does it work? When a student has missing work and is assigned to WIN, he or she will call a parent. If your child does not reach you and leaves a message, it is assumed that he/she will stay for WIN unless you call to let the office know otherwise. Please call Student Services at 303 347-7855 if your child will not be staying for WIN. Students assigned to WIN are not allowed to attend sporting practices, games, clubs, activities or other after school events. If the parent excuses the student from WIN, the student will need to go home at the end of the school day. The student is expected to complete the missing work at home this same evening and normal Core rules will apply for the assignment. The WIN program is held Monday through Thursday from 2:45pm – 4:00pm. WIN will begin January 19, 2010. Read more here | | | | | |
